Ensure scaffolding work safety through scaffolding safety supervision.

Ensuring scaffolding safety requires special skills. As Finland’s leading scaffolding safety expert, Patera does it for you professionally, in cooperation with your company and your scaffolding supplier – with an operating model that develops occupational safety.

According to Sections 16-17 of Act 205/2009, the scaffolding client/main implementer is personally responsible for maintaining the operational safety of scaffolding throughout its use, and for commissioning and weekly inspections.

Section 10 of the Occupational Safety and Health Act 738/2002 sets requirements for the use of an external expert if the company does not have adequate expertise to ensure scaffolding safety.

The scaffolding safety supervision and independent scaffolding inspection service verifies occupational safety with regard to the construction and use of scaffolding on behalf of the client. Whether the question is a single boiler rack or a whole construction/industrial site, our qualified scaffolding safety experts ensure that the scaffolding is always built according to the standards of the scaffolding manufacturer, legislation, and the client, and that the scaffolding is built correctly and is thus safe to use.

Our scaffolding safety supervisors are also HSE supervision professionals, which always enables combined HSE and scaffolding safety supervision by Patera.

Independent scaffolding inspection

Client’s risks and responsibilities

At construction sites, it is common for the same scaffolding company to both deliver and inspect scaffolding for commissioning. This means that the party implementing the work also supervises and approves their own work - which can cause conflicts of interest and safety risks.

Legal responsibility with the client

Irrespective of who builds the scaffolding, the scaffolding client/main implementer is personally responsible for the commissioning and weekly inspections of the scaffolding, and for maintaining operational safety throughout its use.

Section 10 of the Occupational Safety and Health Act 738/2002 sets requirements for the use of an external expert if the company does not have adequate expertise to ensure scaffolding safety.

An independent expert ensures safety

As an independent scaffolding safety expert, we will carry out commissioning and weekly inspections on scaffolding at your site on your behalf. We eliminate the risk of superficial inspections and conflicts of interest.

As a responsible client, you can trust that as an external, third party, we ensure that the scaffolding meets legal requirements and safety standards, and also stands up to inspection by the authorities.

Benefits of the service

Scaffolding safety during downtime

Scaffolding safety during downtime

Supervision of shutdown scaffolding by Patera frees up resources for other shutdown work. Our customers who use the scaffolding safety supervision service have noticed improved quality of scaffolding work and thereby improvement in occupational safety. The scaffolding is made with higher quality even after shutdowns, because the lessons learned from supervision about construction-level requirements develop scaffolders’ skills and also provide the client with the expertise to demand higher-quality scaffolding from their scaffolding supplier.

In addition, supervision meets the requirement of the Occupational Safety and Health Act to supervise the working environment and occupational safety and to use an external expert if adequate expertise is not available.

The verification of scaffolding safety during downtime by Patera also includes the statutory commissioning and weekly inspections of scaffolding, if necessary.

Our scaffolding safety supervisors are also HSE supervision experts, which always enables combined HSE and scaffolding safety supervision by Patera.
